However, previous studies have largely focused on attitudes towards artificial intelligence from positive and negative perspectives, attitude-forming factors, or usage intentions; consequently, the psychological functions underpinning these attitudes have not yet been discussed in depth, particularly with regard to the strengths of each attitude function. This study aims to analyse the level of attitude functions among the public regarding the use of artificial intelligence as a source of information based on the Functional Attitude Theory perspective. This study employs a quantitative descriptive method within a positivist paradigm. Data were collected via a questionnaire from 73 respondents who are members of the Indonesian AI Forum, selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics on the four attitude functions—utilitarian, ego-defensive, ego-defensive, and knowledge—to identify the strength of each attitude function.
